Samsung Galaxy S23 could feature satellite connectivity

Rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S23, the company’s next flagship, have started cropping up months before the launch. According to ‘The Elec’ from Korea, the company is planning to bring satellite connectivity to the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung is looking to use satellite connectivity in the Galaxy S23 for transmitting data such as text messages and small-sized images at hundreds of kbps, says the report.

HUAWEI has satellite connectivity on the Mate 50 Pro, which lets you send and receive limited text messages using Beidou satellites in China.

The report says that Samsung will work with partner Iridium for it. Based on earlier reports, the company was said to be working with smartphone makers with its 66 low-orbit communication satellites.

Apple has partnered with Globalstar to bring Emergency SOS via satellite service to the iPhone 14 series, which is already available in the US and Canada. Apple recently confirmed that the emergency service will be available in France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK in December.

The Galaxy S23 series is expected to be introduced in February 2023 with a new design, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC. The flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to feature a 200MP camera and a brighter screen.
